This workshop will address how various approaches to composting can be incorporated into a unified system that turns the traditional hugelkultur (“mound culture”) raised-bed garden approach upside down.

Past workshops in this series have addressed various approaches to composting and soil building, from conventional cold (lazy) piles to hot piles, to sheet mulching, to vermicomposting, to biochar, to fermented plant materials, to composting with wood chips, and more. Today’s workshop will address how each of these methods can be incorporated into a unified system that turns the traditional hugelkultur (“mound culture”) raised-bed garden approach upside down. In our high-desert, low-water environment, we want to create soils that are sheltered from extreme exposure and that hold on to every precious drop. Come learn how to make magic.
