Bridge Boulevard Construction Community Meeting
August 25, 2023 @ 12:00 am - 2:00 am UTC+0
Bernalillo County invites residents to weigh in on phase three of the Bridge Boulevard Reconstruction on Thursday, Aug. 24 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the South Valley Multipurpose Senior Center, 2008 Larrazolo Road SW.
Phase three, also known as Bridging Los Vecinos, is located between Lura Place and Young Avenue, including the Goff intersection and Five Points intersection. The meeting will focus on ways to improve safety and mobility in that area.
“Bridge Boulevard holds historic significance in the South Valley as the first constructed crossing over the Rio Grande, and one of two river crossings in our community,” says District 2 Commissioner Steven Michael Quezada. “We are excited to keep this project moving forward in a way that preserves the authenticity of the South Valley.”
In 2011, BernCo began a process to develop the Bridge Boulevard Corridor Redevelopment Plan for the section of Bridge Boulevard between Coors Boulevard and the Barelas Bridge. The goal was to improve the corridor’s transportation infrastructure, local business economy, housing, zoning, mass transit systems, and pedestrian and bicycle facilities while maintaining the character and history of the community.
The plan was adopted by the Bernalillo County Board of Commissioners in 2013 and will be completed in four phases.
People who attend the meeting will be able to review options for Bridging Los Vecinos, get more information on the project, and provide input. For meeting materials, public comment, and to subscribe to project updates visit https://www.bridginglosvecinos.com/.
